LittleTorino: a self hosted comms cloud solution

on-premise cloud server solution for SMEs

Virtual Open Systems proudly unveils LittleTorino, the ultimate all-in-one on-premises server solution designed for modern SMEs, offices, factories, and edge deployments! This compact ARM-powered hardware box packs everything your internal and external communication business needs: secure self-hosted email server, full office suite, stored data privacy and web meeting platform. LittleTorino is 100% self-hosted for unmatched privacy and blazing-fast performance whether on-premises or remote. It has been designed for an ultra-simple commissioning, accessible to everyone, and without any recurring costs, making it an exception among current business models for small business communication solutions. Moreover, it is built on open source technologies with: RAID disk redundancy for unbreakable reliability, Advanced networking (DNS, VPN, and more) to maximizing bandwidth and security. More information available at the web page, where you can find the LittleTorino product presentation.

Horizon Europe: AERO project in finalization phase

Accelerated EuRopean ClOud (AERO) targets to build the ARM based european cloud

The AERO project aims at preparing the software ground for the European Processor Initiative cloud infrastructure based on Arm processors and hardware accelerators (GPUs, FPGAs, RISC-V DSPs). The project has been extended and is in a phase where all the developed components are validated and integrated. At this point, the Virtual Open Systems’ port of VOSySmonitor on the Neoverse V1 processor developed using Arm Fastmodels will be run and tested on the Rhea processors from SiPearl.

Development services: Specialized expertise in embedded

Horizon Europe: NANCY project success story

A secure and intelligent architecture for the beyond the fifth generation (B5G) wireless network

The NANCY European project is entering its finalization phase. All partners are working intensively to complete the delivery of cutting‑edge technologies for the beyond 5G (B5G) era, with a strong focus on security through an innovative blockchain‑based solution for user authentication and smart contracts. To achieve this objective, Virtual Open Systems has developed a new virtio-based solution that decouples a virtio backend and frontend into separate hardware partitions within the same platform. This enhances the concept of system partitioning as it permits to multiplex the available hardware resources across multiple partitions.Final demonstrations and deliverables are being prepared for the concluding plenary activities.

SATCOM virtualization: VOS contributes to WAVE

OpenWAVE, an open source implementation for the IEEE WAVE Gateway component

The Waveform Architecture for Virtualized Ecosystems (WAVE) Consortium aims at standardizing virtualization technologies for Satellite Communication (SATCOM) networks. Virtual Open Systems confirmed the status of WAVE contributing member for the second year in a row, continuing an effort that has seen the company involved since the beginning. In this context, VOS aims at bringing the company FPGA virtualization and cloud systems expertise in a community composed by the world most important companies for what concerns satellite communication. More in particular, VOS’ FPGA acceleration techniques for Kubernetes and technologies like vFPGAmanager and SR-IOV Virtualization Function Framework (SVFF) are pioneering the consortium objectives and help the definition of the standard and the implementation of prototypes.

Horizon Europe: Vitamin-V project success story

Virtual Environment and Tool-Boxing for Trustworthy Development of RISC-V Processor based Cloud Services

Also the Vitamin-V European project is closing soon. Deliverables are all ready and the final review meeting has been scheduled in Barcelona, Spain in mid February 2026. Virtual Open Systems has focused research and development activities on porting rust-vmm to RISC-V, successfully demonstrating a RISC-V Linux KVM guest boot. Moreover, during the project VOS has developed VOSySmonitoRV and vManagerV that together allow to dynamically create and manage system partitions. For what concerns final demonstrators, all the software stack was ported and integrated on the Sipeed Lichee PI 4A board and has been showcased at the final review.

Product development: vManager for orchestratable virtualizaton

Orchestratable lightweight virtualization

Virtual Open Systems efforts in developing vManager have progressed, and the product has reached its maturity level, ready for custom designs and proof-of-concepts (PoC), targeting companies that wish to consolidate more operating systems on a single platform without compromising performance or security. With vManager, users can define and manage system partitions that are created from available system resources. These partitions, whose isolation is ensured by hardware through VOSySmonitor (in ARMv7/v8) or VOSySmonitoRV (in RISC-V), are suitable for executing operating systems like Linux or real-time OSes. The deployment can also be managed by an external agent, such as libvirt, which broadens vManager applications beyond embedded environments into the cloud domain. As a result, VOS offers a new method of orchestratable lightweight virtualization, aiming to strike a perfect balance between isolation, performance, and flexibility.

Update: New company presentation available
